Adopt a Planter
The Corporation of Hamilton is pleased to work with volunteers participating in the Adopt-A-Planter programme.
The Adopt-A-Planter is exactly what it says: your opportunity to adopt one of the 10 planters being supplied by the Corporation.
What do you have to do? Apply!
You have to apply and be accepted as the responsible guardian of this little bit of greenery and colours bloom in inner city life, a small but significant part of Hamilton as the City in Bloom.
To qualify you must choose a specific location, identifying your street name and building and explain exactly why you have selected that location. Remember, your specific location must be within the City limits. Explain how you plan to take care of your planter and why you should be one of the 10 lucky adopters of a special planter.
What do you get?
Pride in your planter. Pride in your City. And, your own personal plaque on the planter! Your or your business name. A two-edged sword: everybody will know that it is your responsibility. A planter is not just for May!
This is a great opportunity for you as a volunteer to participate and be proud of Hamilton. By keeping the planters clean of debris (especially all those old “dog ends”), watered, well maintained and, as the name suggests, well planted, you will bring that little bit of joy that makes all the difference.
The Corporation of Hamilton places a high level of importance on the maintenance of all the planters and parks within the City. This is your opportunity to partner with the City and help keep the planters vibrant and healthy.
The Adopt-A-Planter programme has been established as a City in Bloom initiative and community service to help beautify public spaces in the City of Hamilton.
